The Advocates Family Law Association is hosting a Family Law Conference on Monday 2 March. The keynote speaker is the Honourable Lord Malcolm .
Other speakers are:
David Jack, Advocate, on cohabitation: the first issued decisions, and assessing whether they provide assistance on the interpretation of sections 25 to 29 of the Family Law (Scotland) Act 2006 .
Isabella Ennis, Advocate, on adoption: recent decisions on applications under the Adoption (Scotland) Act 1978 in a year when the much awaited Adoption and Children (Scotland) Act 2007  should come into force.
Robert Hayhow, Advocate: financial provision on divorce including the interpretation of appropriate valuation date, transmutation of non-matrimonial property into matrimonial property, and periodical allowance.
Kate Dowdalls, Advocate: international child abduction following an active period for the application of the Hague Convention and Brussels II bis in the Court of Session including the case of C v C. 
PANEL: A panel of advocates including Michael Stuart, Ruth Innes and Kirsty Malcolm will consider a burning question for open discussion and will also answer questions from the floor.
The Family Law Conference 2009 takes place from 0930 until 1600 and will qualify for CPD (hours to be confirmed). The cost is £75.00 per delegate. The venue is the Mackenzie Building, High Street, Edinburgh.
